Craigdarroch Cottage is the perfect place to getaway and relax in the beautiful village of St Fillans, surrounded by breath-taking landscapes at the foot of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.

Craigdarroch Cottage is a quaint, newly refurbished coachman’s cottage which dates back some 100 years. It is located in St Fillans in Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. St Fillans is a picturesque village in a tranquil location set on the banks of Loch Earn. The cottage is perfectly positioned for exploring the National Park and the Southern Highlands. Walking, biking, golfing, fishing, and water sports are among the many activities available. Several walks can be taken directly from the cottage; you can stroll along the old railway or venture into the surrounding mountains, both of which give you a stunning view of Loch Earn. There are ospreys on the loch and red squirrels in the nearby area, as well as deer and other wildlife. After a day in the Scottish countryside, you can relax in front of the wood burning stove in the cosy cottage with its loch view.

Offering a fantastic open plan living area with a kitchen, cooker island with breakfast bar, dining table and comfortable sofas surrounding the wood burner. The bedroom is cosy and comfortable guaranteeing a good night’s sleep after a day of exploring this beautiful part of Scotland. A new decking has been built which can be reached by climbing approximately 30 steps and affords a stunning view down the loch. There is a dedicated parking space opposite the property. St Fillans Village Store is located a few minutes’ walk from the cottage where you can buy groceries and newspapers. It also has a cafe providing snacks, coffee, ice cream and cakes. You can purchase fishing permits here for Loch Earn. There are two hotels in the village which offer evening meals if you feel like dining out, and a bar service; both are dog friendly.

St Fillans has its own 9-hole golf course (voted the best 9-hole course in Scotland), each hole is challenging, and the scenery is breath-taking. There are many golf courses to choose from the vicinity including the prestigious Gleneagles. Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth, and Stirling can all be reached by car within 1 hour 15 minutes.

 

Walking

A charming holiday cottage with direct access to stunning walks, including flat walks along the old railway and more challenging routes in the surrounding hills. There are three of Scotland’s munros within a short drive of the cottage. 

Did you know that Munros are Scottish mountains over 3000 feet. There are 282 munros in Scotland. The you climb to the top of a munro it’s classed as ‘bagging’ a munro. Over 6000 people have bagged all 282 munros!!get those walking boots on.

There are so many activities in Perthshire to keep you busy during your holiday. You can choose from are walking, bird watching, golfing, cycling, water sports, whisky, gin and cheese tasting and many more.
 
St Fillans is right in the centre of the route Heart 200 (map can be found at https://heart200.scot/the-route/). The cottage is an excellent base to explore the route in slow time. It is never too far to return at the end of each day where you can then relax either in front of the fire or on the decking depending not he time of year.

Beautiful candlelit atmospheric bar – warmed by an open fire and lit by candlelight, is decorated with various antiques including Jacobean swords. An excellent sound system plays the best in both haunting Gaelic, and more upbeat traditional Scottish folk music. If you are lucky, you might even catch an impromptu “ session,” with bag pipe players who like to stop by and entertain. We’re proud to serve a selection of award winning real ales from Local producers including Harviestoun’s Schiehallion and Old Engine oil.

Mhor 84 is a restaurant, café and bar. All three are intertwined. We serve food all day from 8am-9pm, for motel guests, walkers, joggers, cyclists, the odd pet dog, and everyone else, too.

There’s always something good to eat at Mhor 84 with a lot of our food from our own farm at Monachyle Mhor. Breakfasts include the Big Breakfast, our fabled eggs benedict, or a simple flat white with Mhor Bread sourdough toast and homemade jam. Lunches include stonking soups, homemade bread, Scottish steaks, and gourmet burgers, as well as bowls of mussels and plenty of sumptuous salads. Cakes and pastries come freshly baked from our sister bakery Mhor Bread. Great wine and beer list too.
